Boruto Two Blue Vortex Chapter 3 – Review

The Birth of Uzuhiko Rasengan and Boruto’s Journey to Godhood

Boruto has officially created the strongest Rasengan ever—Uzuhiko just shook the entire planet. Considering this is base Boruto, he is the most potent Shinobi to exist, even challenging the likes of Naruto’s Baryon Mode—no way! But that’s not the only reveal that blows everyone’s mind in Chapter 3, as Boruto has been trained by Kashin Koji, Jiraiya’s clone, which means he has attained Sage Mode.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 3 begins with Code being confused about Boruto’s new Uzuhiko technique. He quickly dismisses the idea that it’s just an evolved Vanishing Rasengan because he can see it, and it’s not long-ranged. Code responds by using his Claw Marks to attack Boruto, but he dodges easily. Now, considering that the Claw Marks were compared to Minato’s Flying Raijin in Chapter 16 of Boruto: Naruto’s Next Generations, we have started to understand just how formidable Boruto has become. This jutsu earned Minato a “flee-on-sight” order and allowed him to kill 1,000 Shinobi in one day during the Third War. But here comes Boruto, making it all look like fodder.

Code assumes he blocked the incoming Rasengan, but he couldn’t be more wrong. Boruto explains that Code’s death sentence has already started and that it’s easy to kill him. A threat stronger than Jigen, who made light work of Naruto and Sasuke, has already lost the battle within 5 seconds. This proves that base Boruto can kill any past villain like a walk in the park. This is the weakest variant of Uzuhiko we will see. We must remember that this is Boruto without activating his Karma Seal, which would give him a boost in all jutsu.

The Uzuhiko Rasengan starts to wrap and cling around Code’s body as Boruto gives him one last warning to take him to the Ten-Tails. Otherwise, he will die right here and now. So, what exactly is going on? As the jutsu hits Code, he cannot do anything against Boruto. Code tries to hurt him and believes Boruto has unlocked Ultra Instinct as he keeps moving around. He states it’s not on the level of dodging; it’s not Genjutsu or cloning. However, what is happening is that Code’s equilibrium has been destroyed. His whole body is spinning, much like the Earth’s rotation.

Boruto still needs to be finished. He directly hits Code with the Uzuhiko Rasengan, wrapping chakra around his body on impact. This attack pushes Code back as he’s being assaulted by a tornado—or at least, he’ll wish it was just that. Wait until you hear this: Daemon reveals what Boruto has done. He states that this power shakes the planet and is a move that uses its rotation. Let’s acknowledge that Boruto just shook the planet with a Rasengan. He has become planetary, achieving a feat better than Naruto’s Baryon Mode.

Now, address the first question: how does Daemon know this? We cannot forget that Amado said Daemon has Shibai’s genetics, the Ōtsutsuki who attained godhood and mastered Shinjutsu. The daemon can sense power and its unique qualities, as seen in his reaction to Himawari. So, this isn’t new. It was confirmed in Chapter 60 that he has many hidden abilities, but Eida stopped him from revealing them.

Regarding the second question, Boruto uses the Earth’s chakra to synergize the kinetic energy that moves the Earth on its axis. He directs this rotation and applies it to Code, making his world flip upside down. Code experiences extreme confusion in movement and is out of sync with the world around him. He is spinning while stuck in motion, as highlighted by him seeing multiple Uzumaki whirlpools and claiming, “What is this rotation?” The man is infinitely dizzy.

The damage is semi-permanent, as Boruto has control over this death sentence to anyone suffering its effects. Just look at the chapter: no matter how many times Code tries to stand up, he falls back on his knees. Are you not embarrassed? This isn’t very comfortable!

The Uzuhiko Rasengan works like a normal Rasengan, which involves chakra rotation in multiple directions, contained and used as a weapon. The main difference between Uzuhiko and Boruto Uzumaki is that Boruto Uzumaki does not use his chakra or rotation. Usually, once a Rasengan is used, it disperses. However, Boruto is harnessing the Earth’s energy, which is constantly provided as the Earth spins. This makes the jutsu permanent, stopping only when Boruto deactivates it, or the Earth stops spinning on its axis.

Imagine the Earth being the hands rotating the chakra, and Code is literally in the ball of it all. Hence, the motion of the spin originates from the ground itself, pushing outward. Boruto explains this is a strike back from the planet Code swore to destroy—it’s getting revenge and payback. Therefore, it looks like Boruto’s new technique is on par with Shinjutsu, which is why it’s the GOAT.

We then see Boruto hilariously give Code a “Think, Code, think!” moment, forcing him to choose either to die or reveal the location of the Ten-Tails. But then Kawaki and the gang show up—this marks the first time they have seen each other in three years. As happy as Boruto is to see Himawari, he doesn’t let his personal feelings get in the way, as the whole planet is at stake.

Remember, in Chapter 2 of the Boruto manga, Boruto revealed a new prophecy using Momoshiki’s ability of foresight: Code’s Ten Tails will bring about a future of unimaginable horror. The Claw Grimes, confirmed by Sarada to be like zombies, will devour every human and sprout pseudo-God Trees until they hit the right target—Boruto and Kawaki, as they are Ōtsutsuki. The two continue to evolve, potentially attaining the Rinnegan until this goal is met. That’s why Boruto’s new mission is to destroy the Ten Tails.

Code tries to use this brief moment to escape but is swiftly halted by Kawaki, who shrinks his Claw Marks. Despite this, Boruto tells the others to stay away as he and Code negotiate. Kawaki then states that if Boruto appears in Konoha, he must be prepared to die, right? But all these distractions give Code a chance to use his escape method.

To no one’s surprise, Boruto had warned Code in Chapter 2 of Two Blue Vortex that the Claw Grimes are not tools but life forms. They are evolving, yet Code keeps treating them as tools. This time, a Claw Grime instantly dies to Kawaki, foreshadowing how they will eventually defy Code as they gain free will. Over time, they may evolve, learn to speak, and realize they’re being used, much to Boruto’s amusement. This is why Boruto keeps calling Code an idiot.

Despite being responsible for ruining Boruto’s life and letting his arch-nemesis escape, Boruto is happy to see Kawaki and Himawari doing well. This highlights Boruto’s trust in Ninjutsu and his Shinobi way. Meanwhile, Kawaki points out that Boruto is “looking kind of dripped out” and wonders if Sasuke adopted him. Kawaki skips all the small talk and immediately starts throwing death threats, explaining how he’ll help Boruto die here and now, adding that dying in his hometown wouldn’t be a bad thing.

Boruto surprisingly agrees but tells Kawaki to shut his mouth, as they’ve got more significant problems than their brotherly feud. Suddenly, Boruto receives a message from a toad. That’s right—Boruto placed a toad on Code before his retreat, relaying intel back to him. This can only mean one thing: Kashin Koji is back.

Our community predicted Koji would train Boruto, and it has come true. But in the meantime, Boruto will need someone to train with to continue his Shinobi training—Kashin Koji.

Why would Kashin Koji train Boruto? In Chapter 16 of the Boruto manga, Koji stated, “The Land of Fire—I seem to be linked by fate to that village.” This motif mirrors Jiraiya, of whom Koji is a clone. Jiraiya sought the Child of Prophecy who would save the world. Similarly, Naruto and Boruto are both Children of Prophecy. For instance, Boruto has the Pure Eye and is the Star of Hope against impending doom, as Toneri stated.

This brings us to why Koji feels his fate is linked to Konoha. With his teaching and intel, he can help Boruto—the Star of Hope—change the world. As Isshiki Ōtsutsuki himself stated, Kashin Koji is the Star of Change.

This is much like how Jiraiya helped Naruto fulfil his prophecy to save the world. For example, in the early arcs, Kashin Koji ensured Boruto would meet Kawaki to understand resonance and conduct research on the Karma seal to discover how to destroy its power.

Koji also stated that he was programmed and created to eliminate the Ōtsutsuki. Isshiki remarked that Koji’s pride as a Shinobi was a human weakness that Amado exploited to use him. Therefore, it makes sense for Kashin Koji to help Boruto. He states that he is still a Shinobi and will use his ideals to oppose Kawaki.

Furthermore, in Chapter 48 of the Boruto manga, Isshiki states that Jiraiya’s genetics, from which Kashin Koji is cloned, hold a mighty fate with a minuscule possibility of change. While all genetics have a predestined fate, much like Boruto, Kashin Koji seeks to defy Isshiki’s words, making their team-up logical.

Let’s not forget Chapter 60, where Amado claimed that he and Koji created multiple scenarios to prepare for various outcomes. This indicates Koji must have believed in the truth Boruto would share with him, especially since Jiraiya was a master investigator. For instance, Jiraiya deduced that Sasuke came from the future during the time-travel arc.

This leads us to believe Boruto may have learned Kashin Koji’s abilities, most notably Sage Mode. Boruto having Sage Mode was hinted at in Ending 12 of the anime. It isn’t far-fetched to assume that within three years, Boruto could have found the time to master it, especially given his Minato-like genius and his advanced skill level compared to his predecessors.

Boruto’s chakra control is incredible, and with both Naruto and Minato mastering Sage Mode within a short period, Boruto would likely achieve the same. We were told in Chapter 47 that Sage Mode provides a counter to Kawaki’s Karma Seal by utilizing Natural Energy, which cannot be absorbed. This is why Kashin Koji summoned real flames against Jigen, as natural elements counter synthetic techniques.

Understanding Natural Energy also helped Boruto synchronize with the planet’s kinetic energy. As an Ōtsutsuki, Boruto is biologically an enemy of the planet. Thus, learning Sage Mode would enable him to become one with the planet’s will.

We then see Code in his domain, barely standing due to the lingering effects of the Uzuhiko Rasengan. The chapter then reveals the Ten Tails’ appearance after three years, and it’s shocking—it has been completely depleted of its energy.

At this point, Boruto unveils his plan. He knows Code is an idiot and will never willingly reveal the location of the Ten-Tails, which is why he allows Code to retreat, secretly placing a toad on him to track his movements.

The base of the Ten-Tails now resembles the Gedo Mazo, the husk of the Ten-Tails from Naruto’s story that remained after its chakra was separated from its body. Interestingly, Code even placed a Claw Mark over its face, resembling a blindfold.
