Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 15 Spoilers – Timeline, Future Kawaki, and Power Ups Explained

Kawaki’s Training & Future Explained

So, we finally have the early spoilers for Chapter 15 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex and Boruto will train Kawaki using information from a future version of Kawaki. We’re diving into the timeline, and possible future aspects of the Boruto franchise, and this chapter will be amazing.

Let’s start from the top. It seems like Boruto is sitting on top of the Hokage monument, specifically Naruto’s head. Boruto says, “Look, either way, you have to become stronger.” I did see another translation saying, “We have to become stronger,” but I think this one makes more sense given the context of the conversation. Boruto says, “You’re my dad’s disciple, aren’t you? You were supposed to free Dad from the seal. Ideally, it would be best to get direct training, but sadly, that’s not feasible. It would take too much time.”

This confirms that in another possible future, or one of the infinite realities, Kawaki was supposed to free Naruto. Naruto would have gone on to train him, thus increasing his power level. Now, this is tricky for me. Does this imply that Naruto would have gone on to train Kawaki even though Kawaki ran Boruto out of the village? Or is it that Kawaki welcomed Boruto back to the town in that possible future? It could go either way. I don’t think it makes sense for Naruto to train Kawaki if he’s trying to kill Boruto. It makes more sense that Kawaki let Boruto back into the village, and they sorted out their differences.

Boruto says, “Kawaki, what I’m about to tell you is a conclusion you’ll eventually reach on your own. If the outcome will be the same, it would be best to do it swiftly, so I’ll tell you.” Kawaki responds with his usual confusion, “Wait, what the hell are you talking about?”

This is very interesting. Boruto will train Kawaki or give him information from a possible future version of Kawaki that will gain significant power. This makes sense for Boruto to do since he believes he’s responsible for what happened in the past, and he also believes that Kawaki needs to be stronger to defeat the current threat. So, there is a different dynamic between Naruto and Kawaki here, with Boruto taking on the mentor role, even if Kawaki wants to kill him.

Again, this all goes back to prescience, which is the ability to see infinite possibilities. Boruto can change a future outcome of the timeline, but it also confirms that the futures Koji saw aren’t existing realities but possible future realities. They say they can’t let the worst possible future become reality. This means these futures aren’t separate universes but possible realities.

Now, I mention this because I’ve seen some crazy arguments suggesting that Boruto will be able to see these timelines by teleporting to them using Flying Thunder God. While it would be possible for Boruto to exist in a multiverse where every possible alternate timeline is real and every story happens, that’s not the case here. Boruto would be stuck living out just one of his infinite lives. He wouldn’t be able to decide which direction the multiverse in his universe goes, because that’s not how the multiverse works.

This is different from multiple timelines that exist within each universe. It’s similar to the “infinite Earth” concept in DC Comics, where an actual multiverse has simultaneously different versions of characters. This differs from the Flash changing the timeline in his universe, which doesn’t affect the other universes.

To take this back to Boruto, Koji explains that there’s no timeline paradox because he’s only relaying what he saw—it’s a standard procedure of prescience. A timeline paradox is a contradiction of cause and effect within a timeline that results from traveling back in time. But here, there isn’t a paradox because these futures are just possible realities that haven’t materialized yet. So, Boruto could, in theory, teach himself abilities from possible futures without it being a problem. The same should apply to Kawaki as well.

Boruto said that Kawaki would have eventually gotten to this conclusion, so he would not have gone on a training arc per se but instead gotten a quick power-up from something else. The main way Kawaki could get a power-up is by consuming Shibai’s Thorn Soul Bulb.

This all goes back to what was said in Chapter 75 of the original manga. What if Amado doesn’t just have Shibai’s discarded body lying around for over 5,000 years (which doesn’t make sense)? Instead, he extracted those cells from the Thorn Soul Bulb Shibai left behind after discarding his body. Now, I know this was never stated—that the Otsutsuki could do this—so it’s headcanon, which is true, and that’s the entire point of a theory, which this somewhat is. But I want to drive home the point.

Look at it this way: the key detail everyone missed in Chapter 12 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex was the fact that the Thorn Soul Bulb formed after Kawaki completely obliterated Hidari’s body. It eventually reformed using the tiny particles remaining from Hidari’s body. This likely means one of two things:

  1. The bulb was always inside Hidari’s body, but Kawaki destroyed it in the blast, and it reformed later.
  2. The bulb is only created after the death of a Shinju, using the remains of said Shinju.

Either way is fine for this theory, but I believe that when Shibai left his body behind, it wasn’t that his spirit just detached from his body and left his physical coil intact. I think he could shed his body, similar to when the summoned souls using Edo Tensei returned to the pure land. The particles of his then-discarded body formed the Thorn Soul Bulb, identical to what happened with Hidari, with whom Amado later came in contact.

Now, knowing who Shibai was more tied to Isshiki Otsutsuki because I believe that Isshiki was the one who found the bulb and gave it to Amado. He then extracted the cells from the bulb and implanted them into Daemon and Code, which endowed them with one or more of Shibai’s abilities. Similarly, this bulb, likely created using Sasuke’s Essence, endowed Hidari with one or more of Sasuke’s abilities, which is why he could use Chidori.

This implies some connection between the Shinju, the Ten-Tails, and the Otsutsuki because Shibai wasn’t a Shinju, similar to Hidari. We’ve never seen an Otsutsuki transform into a Thorn Soul Bulb, so how can we link one to the other? This requires us to take some liberties with Naruto’s lore.

The Ten-Tails is directly tied to the Otsutsuki, genetically speaking. This is supported in the series by the fact that only the Otsutsuki can consume a chakra fruit created by a Ten-Tails, and it’s not just a matter of it being too powerful, but more so of non-Otsutsuki not being compatible. This is further backed up by the fact that anyone who tried to consume the stomach walls of the Bijuu to gain its power ended up dying. It was stated to be akin to poison. Yet, we had two individuals who could accomplish this: the Gold and Silver Brothers. This was because they were genetically descendants of Hagoromo Otsutsuki, which again supports the idea that Otsutsuki has genetic compatibility with the Tailed Beasts.

This makes even more sense, considering that Kaguya merged with the Ten-Tails and awakened their new Bijuu form. Kaguya was the first Shinju. She became one with the Ten-Tails, which allowed it to awaken sentience, thus being able to speak to Madara in the Fourth Great Ninja War. So, it wouldn’t be far-fetched to say that if Kaguya were vaporized, similar to Hidari, she would have turned into a Thorn Soul Bulb as well, thus supporting the idea that Amado possesses Shibai in the form of a Thorn Bulb, which Kawaki will then go on to consume.

This would make Kawaki extremely powerful, and he may even surpass Boruto. However, I don’t know if Boruto wants that to happen because it wouldn’t be good for Boruto, especially since we know what happens later in the timeline. Boruto may know Kawaki will get stronger but not stronger than him because he has already seen how strong Kawaki becomes.

We must remember that getting Shibai’s cells doesn’t make you as strong as Shibai. Daemon isn’t as strong as Shibai. Delta isn’t as strong as Shibai. Kashin Koji, Eida—all the cyborgs implanted with his cells became extremely powerful, but none reached Shibai’s power level. The power also isn’t distributed equally. For example, Daemon and Code received Shibai’s cells, and Code even has a Karma Seal from Isshiki Otsutsuki, yet Daemon is stronger than Code. So, we have no idea what the power amplification would be if Kawaki does get Shibai’s cells or more of them.

I say “more” because Kashin Koji said that every cyborg modified to get stronger by Amado also received Shibai’s cells without fail. This implies that Kawaki also received Shibai’s cells because Amado modified him. But I think this is likely an oversight by the writer because I don’t think Kawaki has Shibai’s cells. Although he may do so, the story hasn’t indicated that this is the case. Even when showing the characters given Shibai’s cells, Kawaki wasn’t in that panel. So, it’s a bit weird—the wording is odd—but I guess we’ll see what happens next. In Boruto Two Blue Vortex Chapter 15, Boruto takes on a mentor role for Kawaki, revealing insights from a possible future. The chapter explores Naruto’s role as a potential trainer, Amado’s secret plans, and the impact of Shibai’s cells. Boruto and Kawaki join forces to face the Shinju, diving into the complexities of future possibilities and power dynamics. Read more for a full breakdown!
