Boruto Two Blue Vortex Chapter 16 spoilers – The Mystery of Momoshiki’s Silence
Momoshiki’s Plan & Boruto Manga Chapter 16 Spoilers
Today, I’ll reveal the secret behind why Momoshiki is hiding and why he hasn’t appeared in the Boruto manga for so long. I’ll also share an official spoiler for Chapter 16 of Boruto Two Blue Vortex and my thoughts on it. Let’s break down some moments from the Boruto manga.
Even though it’s been 2 years since Boruto’s last encounter with Momoshiki, the silence only deepens his anxiety—as if something inside him could awaken at any moment. This struggle has become a heavy burden on Boruto’s soul, making him increasingly restless in anticipation of the inevitable.
Boruto finds the strength to ask Kawaki to take an extremely harsh but necessary step. He once asked his friend to kill him if Momoshiki ever took control of his consciousness. Between life and death, Boruto realizes that this struggle can only end with a tragic sacrifice. He understands that Karma endangers not only himself but also the lives of those around him. He knows that under Karma’s pressure, his fate is just a piece of the merciless Ōtsutsuki Clan’s plan—a plan that sacrifices others’ lives for its own immortality. This plan is consuming him day by day like an endless black hole.
But why has Momoshiki disappeared, leaving only ominous warnings within Boruto’s body? What’s hidden behind this eerie silence? These questions haunt Boruto, amplifying his fear and uncertainty. The weight of responsibility and the threat of the inevitable make him obsessed with the idea of self-sacrifice. He understands that there’s no simple way out of Karma—it’s like a ticking time bomb that will eventually explode if it’s not stopped.
Amid 2 years of silence from Momoshiki lingering in Boruto’s shadow, the internal tension becomes almost unbearable. Boruto feels his own consciousness intertwining with Momoshiki, creating a strange bond that defies control. This connection deepened after Momoshiki sacrificed part of his soul and genes to save Boruto from certain death. He lost 18% of his being yet gained the ability to exist as a shadow, ready to emerge at any moment he desires. This act of self-sacrifice left a visible mark: Momoshiki’s horn is now broken and smaller—a permanent reminder of the part he gave up for Boruto.
This bond reveals Momoshiki’s true intentions. Not only has he come to terms with his new state, but he’s also scheming to take control. Now that he’s part of Boruto, he feels stronger. Even though he suffered a significant loss, he doesn’t shy away from showing himself to Boruto, intentionally exerting his influence, meddling with Boruto’s thoughts and actions—as if testing his resilience.
Momoshiki understands that his ultimate goal isn’t just assimilation but complete domination of Boruto’s will. During their rare but impactful conversations, Momoshiki hinted to Boruto that his true plan runs much deeper than mere survival. He has little interest in Code or the Shinju themselves—they are just pawns, sources of power to fuel his ambitions. More than that, he sees these threats as a challenge and an opportunity to showcase his true strength.
Boruto begins to suspect that Momoshiki intends to manipulate everyone, including him, taking advantage of moments of doubt and the shadows of the past. This realization shakes Boruto to his core. He knows that any information leak—like what Kashin Koji once told him—becomes known to Momoshiki. Every decision, every action is monitored by this ancient spirit, who is waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
Boruto senses that Momoshiki is preparing himself for something monumental—the final stage of his plan that could destroy everything Uzumaki holds dear. While Boruto strategizes and works to protect those he loves, Momoshiki patiently waits, ready to intervene at the opportune moment. He knows the day will come when he can set Boruto up to fail in front of Kawaki, orchestrating his downfall, seizing the fruit, destroying the Shinju, and consuming anyone who stands in his way. These are Momoshiki’s true intentions, hidden behind his ominous calm demeanor.
Fans have long speculated on what this calm before the storm might mean. Questions are piling up: What is Momoshiki planning? Why has he stayed in the shadows for so long? What does he ultimately intend for Boruto? The constant fear drives Boruto to repeatedly ask Kawaki for extreme measures, knowing that if things spiral out of control, no one will be able to save him.
Momoshiki isn’t just a foreign presence within him. He is the embodiment of ancient power and ruthlessness, instilling a terror that’s impossible to suppress. But getting rid of Karma is an impossible task, and Boruto knows that better than anyone. Nevertheless, his battle with Momoshiki isn’t just a fight for his body but a struggle for his own destiny.
God Killer is what they now call Boruto. As the inheritor of powerful Karma, in some way, he accepts this title, sensing his unique role in this story. Deep down, he draws a parallel to what Uchiha Madara once was—a conflicted, tragic hero who became an enemy once the world turned its back on him.
From time to time, Boruto observes the world around him as if saying farewell in case Momoshiki fully takes over one day. In moments of silence, he remembers Konoha Village, feels its warmth, and realizes that he may be destined to follow the path of the great Madara, who also once turned against his people. The path that once led to peace and harmony might turn into a road of destruction.
Madara was willing to sacrifice everything for his truth, and Boruto sees in him the same selflessness that now fills his own heart with courage and fear at once. With each day, his fight with Momoshiki intensifies, and Boruto feels that they are bound by a shared destiny, just as Madara and Hashirama were bound as symbols of rivalry and faithful choices.
By embracing the Ōtsutsuki’s power, Boruto has been drawn into the gods’ grand scheme, becoming a pawn in their immortal game. Now, he’s the God Killer—both hero and anti-hero—ready to fight Momoshiki not only for his freedom but also for those he loves. Perhaps Karma will indeed be his greatest curse, but Boruto knows that despite his fears and doubts, he’ll keep fighting.
With each passing day, he understands that his sacrifice will mean not just salvation but a path to freedom from this eternal curse. Amado has pointed out that there’s no known way to remove Karma from a vessel or stop its progression except by killing the vessel before the Ōtsutsuki resurrects. Even the Ōtsutsuki who left the mark can’t control its unpacking process.
The resurrection process won’t complete until the Ōtsutsuki who left the mark dies. This is why Isshiki didn’t reincarnate in Jigen’s body, even though Karma had already extracted all the necessary data. Once Karma is placed on a person, the process of embedding biological data into the vessel begins, eventually allowing the Ōtsutsuki to resurrect. This process starts automatically, and even the one who left the mark can’t control it.
This means the Ōtsutsuki can be permanently and irrevocably killed if they fail to leave Karma on someone else, especially if they resurrect in an unsuitable vessel. Nor can the reverse be done: the Ōtsutsuki can place Karma on multiple vessels, but when they resurrect, the other marks disappear from the remaining vessels. This is to prevent multiple copies of the same Ōtsutsuki from appearing in the world.
How will Boruto’s battle end? Will he be able to defeat Momoshiki and free himself from the Ōtsutsuki Clan’s power, or will this darkness consume him completely? There are so many questions.
Chapter 16 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex
Finally, we have the first spoilers for Chapter 16 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, and they show Team Shinki meeting Konohamaru in the Land of Wind. There are some interesting moments, so let’s break them down. These spoilers are just a brief preview—we’ll find out the full details in a few days.
The images show the team saying, “Welcome to the Land of Wind. Thank you for your cooperation,” to which Konohamaru replies, “Nice to meet you. Let’s head there right away.” It appears these are the same characters from Chapter 15, including Team Shinki.
Among them is a girl named Yodo, who, while rarely seen in the Boruto manga, got more screen time in the anime. She’s skilled in taijutsu, and her fight with Shikadai showed that her speed and agility are impressive. Her unique ability is acute hearing, allowing her to detect the slightest movements from a distance, giving her an edge in combat even without seeing her opponent. However, Shikadai countered her hearing by creating noise with an explosion to mask his movements.
Yodo also uses powerful sound-based attacks. Her technique relies on sound waves, and although she’s not yet on Temari’s level, she’s close. Her character hasn’t shown much depth for detailed analysis, but maybe TBV will give her more attention.
Another character is Araya, though his name sounds odd and might have suited Yodo better. While he could have a different name, Araya also rarely appeared, but his abilities were more prominent. He’s a sword master skilled in kenjutsu and also has puppet control techniques, creating a realistic copy of himself. This allows him to fight on par even when his opponent activates advanced abilities, such as the Sharingan, though in its initial stage.
Araya can also summon powerful creatures from a distance while remaining undetected, making him effective at both close and long-range combat. However, the scenes we’ve seen don’t suggest that Team Shinki can withstand the Shinju’s power, especially since both Gaara and Team Shinki were defeated by Matsuri Shinju.
It’s surprising that they’re sending Konohamaru—and likely Team 10 members—when Gaara and Team Shinki weren’t strong enough. Perhaps the author is hinting that Konohamaru is now stronger than Gaara.
This seems logical, given that Konohamaru was able to react to Hidari’s Chidori at close range—a feat more impressive than Sarada’s reaction, considering Konohamaru lacks a Sharingan. However, from a narrative standpoint, it’s unlikely that Konohamaru will single-handedly defeat Matsuri, as that would reduce the role of the other Team 10 members.
Most likely, Matsuri will be slightly stronger, giving Shikadai and Chōchō a chance to shine. Additionally, Team 10 isn’t currently at full strength, as it’s unlikely that Inojin has fully recovered yet. There’s a possibility someone else will join them; some speculate it might be Mitsuki, though it’s doubtful Konoha would risk such a key character on such a dangerous mission.
Summing It All Up
The main conflict for Boruto isn’t just about fighting for control over his body but also for his fate, as Karma ties him to the ancient, ruthless plans of the Ōtsutsuki Clan. Boruto knows that Karma is like a ticking time bomb, and every moment of silence from Momoshiki only increases his anxiety.
This creates a tense dynamic where Boruto is constantly balancing the desire to protect others with the fear that he might become a threat to those he loves. His request to Kawaki to kill him if he loses control is a serious one, and it highlights just how dangerous this bond with Momoshiki really is.
Chapter 16 Spoilers Recap
As for the spoilers from Chapter 16, they add some interesting layers to the current storyline. The team led by Shinki, meeting Konohamaru in the Land of Wind, shows that this arc will focus not just on Konoha but on other regions as well. This expands the world and offers more opportunities for deep storytelling.
However, it’s surprising that they sent Konohamaru and Team 10, even though Gaara and Shinki’s team already lost to Matsuri and Shinju. This could mean that Konohamaru has gotten a lot stronger, and the authors want to showcase him as a more experienced and powerful leader.
Either way, these developments promise to be exciting, especially if we get to see more of the abilities of characters like Yodo and Araya, who haven’t had much screen time before.
