Boruto Manga – Chapter 7 Review

The Sun’s True Light: Boruto vs. Mitsuki, Omnipotence Cracks, and Kawaki’s Lies Unravel

We have Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 7, titled The Whereabouts of the Sun. In this chapter, we see the battle between Boruto and Mitsuki, where Boruto drops absolute bombshells on the likes of Mitsuki and Shikamaru. Boruto tells the characters who were affected by the omnipotent Shinjutsu that Naruto is safe and still alive in the story.

This chapter took a much faster pace compared to the past couple of chapters. Of course, there was a battle between Boruto and Mitsuki, and there was some critical dialogue about some of the cracks within the omnipotent Jutsu, especially towards some affected characters.

So let’s get right into it, man.

In Boruto Chapter 7, we see Mitsuki talking about how he is the moon and how Kawaki, who, at least in Part One, was Boruto, the sun, illuminated that hope and gave Mitsuki guidance for his own will. As Mitsuki explains his entire will for who the sun is, he attacks Boruto in real time. This is where he tries to attack Boruto Uzumaki right away.

Boruto then throws out some shuriken to attack Mitsuki, and Mitsuki then begins to attack Boruto even more with a bunch of his snakes hitting the ground. As Boruto dodges, he gets behind Mitsuki using the Flying Raijin Jutsu.

Boruto then questions Mitsuki on where Kawaki is because he wants to have a conversation with him and try to get an understanding between the two brothers. Shikamaru then informs Boruto that Kawaki was knocked out cold by Mitsuki to protect him. At least according to Shikamaru, Mitsuki has gone rogue since he left the village without anybody’s permission, specifically from the Hokage. He is now considered a rogue ninja in technical terms, which is interesting. This shows how much Mitsuki is willing to protect his son.

Mitsuki does say he understands Boruto’s power level; in his words, it is off the charts compared to Kawaki. He is no match for Boruto. This is very interesting, considering that Kawaki wants to kill Boruto. This is the first character he wants to kill to eliminate all of the Ōtsutsuki.

Now that it has been three years since he established that goal, Boruto and Kawaki have become more substantial. However, according to a character that has been by Kawaki’s side for the past couple of years, Boruto is on a whole other level compared to Kawaki, which is very interesting to note. At the end of Part One, they seemed to have about the same power levels. Which character was more substantial?

Boruto was the perfect Ōtsutsuki at the end of Part One; however, Kawaki had better use of the Karma since he had access to Isshiki’s Dōjutsu. Three years later, there seems to be a massive power difference between Boruto and Kawaki Uzumaki.

Obviously, with Boruto, he has been chased down by the entire Leaf Village, and, of course, with Code and his Claw Grime army, with multiple characters trying to go for his head, it’s evident that Boruto had to get a lot stronger to stay alive and to stop Kawaki, of course.

Meanwhile, Kawaki may have become complacent about living inside the Leaf Village, having it all good, and being viewed as the hero of Konoha. He didn’t need to train as much, and, of course, he had the Karma. So, with him staying inside the village, he didn’t need to train as hard as Boruto.

On the other hand, Boruto does not use his Karma at all. We have yet to see him activate the Karma so far in the time skip, and he is just using ninjutsu that he has learned on his own. This shows you the different approaches of both characters, especially since we all know Boruto and Kawaki will fight eventually.

With Mitsuki’s fixation on protecting Kawaki, he cannot let him get killed by Boruto, no matter the cost. According to Mitsuki, now that Kawaki’s out of the equation since he is knocked out and far away from the battle, Mitsuki can go all out to fight him.

Mitsuki then attacks Boruto right away using snake clones. Eventually, after dodging many of the snake clones, Boruto has enough and destroys all of them with his sword with ease. I do have to say that when it comes to Boruto destroying all the snake clones, reading this visually on the manga panels was very, very clear to see.

When it comes to displaying the power of Boruto, I’m very impressed with how Ikemoto is showing off Boruto. Anyways, after Boruto destroys all of the snake clones, Mitsuki and Boruto have a Dragon Ball Z-like beam clash where they throw lightning-style jutsus at each other. Both the jutsus cancel out, where Boruto gets the jump by putting a sword at Mitsuki’s neck, rendering him unable to fight back and holding him hostage.

This is where Mitsuki knows that he is cornered, and he then deactivates his Sage Mode and tells Boruto to finish the job and kill him. In the end, Boruto reassures that he will not kill him. Instead, he does the classic Talk no Jutsu.

He tells Mitsuki that the sun that radiates upon him is not Kawaki but him. He drops the bombshell and says that he is Mitsuki’s sun—the sun shining on him, which he views as Kawaki but has lost some radiance at some points. As we know, with Mitsuki’s fixation over Boruto now, which has been toward Kawaki, the feelings drawn back to Mitsuki are pretty different between Boruto and Kawaki.

Boruto views Mitsuki as his friend. However, when it comes to Kawaki, as you’ve seen from some of the dialogue in the past few chapters so far into Blue Vortex, Kawaki has given Mitsuki the cold shoulder. He has not reciprocated that same feeling back toward him and has treated him like a loser, telling Mitsuki that he’s weird for always being around him.

Even though Mitsuki has told Kawaki that he wants to protect him, Kawaki does not reciprocate those feelings, so he tells him to leave him alone. After hearing that, Boruto tells him that he is his sun.

Now, Kawaki refuses to believe it. He wraps his snake around Boruto, trying to kill him, but realizes that his snake doesn’t attack him since the will he follows is Boruto’s and not Kawaki’s. After realizing this, he cannot believe it, and this is when he unarms Boruto with his snake and tries to find reason with him, where he tells Boruto, “Who the hell is he?”

Boruto reassures him that he has no intention of killing Kawaki, but he just needs to settle things with him since they are brothers.

Mitsuki then questions why Boruto killed Lord Seventh, and this is where Boruto tells Mitsuki that Naruto is, in fact, still alive and is in a safe place. Let’s remember Shikamaru and Ino are in this conversation using mind transmission Jutsu, which catches somebody like Ino off guard. At least when you look at Shikamaru, he does not seem surprised.

Boruto then tells Mitsuki that he is fully capable of shining on his own, meaning that Mitsuki has his own will and that he can do whatever he wants of his own will. He doesn’t need somebody like Boruto or Kawaki to follow his will. But if he ever needs a sun, Boruto is right there, which shows you that Boruto still cares about his best friend, hence why he doesn’t kill him and gives him a reason why he is Mitsuki’s sun.

Moving on to the end of Chapter 7 of the Boruto manga, Boruto and Shikamaru have a conversation about the effects of omnipotence. Even though somebody like Shikamaru is affected and informed about the effects of Jutsu, Boruto tells Shikamaru not to bother with trying to figure out how omnipotence works.

Even though he was told how the Jutsu operates, the concept of omnipotence will not stick in Shikamaru’s memory since he was affected. The Jutsu’s thought process will fade over time since that is part of its power.

Even though Shikamaru has evidence and understands that Boruto and Kawaki have swapped places, the proof of this will eventually fade out because he was affected by omnipotence. Since Boruto knows this, he tells Shikamaru to trust him—that he and Kawaki have switched places without proof since the proof will eventually be erased from Shikamaru’s memory.

After understanding why Kawaki did what he did when invoking the omnipotent Jutsu through Eida’s will, Shikamaru says that he will not expose Kawaki just yet for doing what he did. The omnipotent Jutsu has also had a significant impact on Kawaki.

This is a brilliant move from Hokage, as even though he understands what Kawaki did, I think the Leaf Village and Shikamaru should wait a little bit to see what’s going on. Even though that will be the case, Boruto will have to stay a fugitive for much longer, which Boruto is prepared to do.

The one thing I have to say about Boruto is that he has won over his best friend and the Hokage—the highest person of power in Konoha—even though he was made a village traitor for something he did not do. That’s incredibly impressive for a character like that, for him to overcome a little bit of the omnipotence.

Anyway, in the last two pages of Chapter 7 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga, we see Jura reading about the world’s information. Even though he is learning more, he asks more questions that will arise, which only exposes his ignorance. Eventually, he gives up, realizing that none of the information he wants is in the books he’s reading, and instead decides to visit Naruto himself.

Let’s not forget that Naruto is inside of that Daikokugan Dimension that Kawaki stormed in, so Jura will most likely have to go to the Leaf Village to confront Kawaki himself. This is where we will likely get the battle between Jura and Kawaki in the following few chapters.

Please tell me how you feel about Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 7. Overall, this was a pretty good chapter. The battle between Boruto and Mitsuki, along with giving Shikamaru leeway on how the omnipotence of Shinjutsu was activated, is a critical dialogue that needs to be set up, especially when it comes to exposing the lies that Kawaki put on the entire Leaf Village.

That said, I think a character like Jura will expose Kawaki in the end because it does seem like Shikamaru doesn’t want to do that right away. Even though he does know the truth, I think that’s a critical plot point that will be used in the next couple of chapters of Two Blue Vortex.

Overall, it is a pretty good chapter, and I’m very excited about Chapter 8 of boruto two blue vortex. This does set up a lot, especially for somebody like Kawaki, who will not lie and be exposed.
