Sarada, Mitsuki, and Konohamaru: Facing New Challenges in Boruto Chapter 17
Sarada, Mitsuki, and Konohamaru’s New Battles
The shinobi world enters a new phase triggered by the Shinju and Code. Every character faces unpredictable challenges that demand strength and profound personal growth.
In Chapter 17 of Boruto Two Blue Vortex, the spotlight is on Sarada and Mitsuki—two unique ninjas whose relationship exemplifies the perfect shinobi partnership and forms a vital part of the battle against the threats of this new world.
Additionally, Konohamaru Sarutobi finds himself at a crossroads, tasked with proving his worth in the most challenging circumstances. How will they face off against Ryu and Matsuri? Who will be in danger? And what lessons will they take from this mission? We’ll break it all down in this blog. Let’s dive into our analysis of the upcoming events.
Sarada and Mitsuki are two Shinobi whose abilities complement one another, creating a unique balance of power and strategy. As a leader, Sarada constantly analyzes situations using her Sharingan, anticipating opponents’ moves and directing her team accordingly.
Additionally, she has the Mangekyo Sharingan, which we have yet to see in battle. Her cold, logical mind and ability to make decisions under pressure make her an exceptional fighter and a reliable leader in any circumstance. Her growth as a strong shinobi and future Hokage is evident, and in Two Blue Vortex, we see her already on that path.
Mitsuki, on the other hand, is flexible and cunning. His abilities in Senjutsu, regeneration, and analysis allow him to act as both a scout and a crucial support element for the team. He is the ideal partner for Sarada, as his skills provide the necessary backup and attention to detail that she might overlook in the heat of battle.
In Two Blue Vortex, Mitsuki doesn’t just play the role of the serpentine fighter; he becomes an independent force, with his abilities evolving toward more advanced techniques. These two vastly different ninjas work seamlessly together in combat, showcasing how differences can form the foundation of a successful team.
Sarada is like fire—assertive and decisive—while Mitsuki is like water—adaptable and capable of overcoming any obstacle. Together, they are a true force, each playing to their unique strengths.
However, it’s not just Sarada and Mitsuki changing. Konohamaru Sarutobi also holds an essential place in current events. Still living in the shadow of his legendary grandfather and Naruto, he now faces more serious challenges that may redefine his role in the shinobi world.
His involvement in the mission to rescue Gaara becomes a pivotal trial, where he must prove his value as a strong shinobi and perhaps even as a future leader. Special attention should be paid to his interaction with Matsuri. This will not only be a physical confrontation but also a test of his mental fortitude.
Matsuri is one of the main threats but could also be the factor that helps Konohamaru find his true path. She is not only a powerful opponent but also a reflection of what Konohamaru is going through. She represents a test of his inner strength and leadership qualities. To defeat her, Konohamaru must overcome his fears and insecurities and learn to rely on his own strength.
Meanwhile, a new antagonist, Ryu, threatens Sarada, Mitsuki, and Konohamaru. His powers go beyond the ordinary, presenting challenges for each of them.
We remember how hard it was for Mitsuki and Sarada to fight Shinki. Additionally, Ryu possesses the abilities of the Ten-Tails, which greatly amplify his strength. When Mitsuki attempts to protect Sarada, he will face off against Ryu and Matsuri.
This will be a key test for all participants and their abilities. This will be a moment of truth for Sarada, who must demonstrate her capacity to overcome any obstacles. By activating her Mangekyo Sharingan, she will showcase incredible strength and the ability to perform under the most challenging conditions.
What exactly is the Mangekyo Sharingan? It’s an advanced form of the Sharingan, a rare and powerful type of eye that manifests in members of the Uchiha clan. Activating the Mangekyo Sharingan doesn’t just happen due to intense emotional stress like the regular Sharingan. It’s the result of extraordinary experiences or personal tragedies that cause the user profound emotional and mental upheaval.
Mitsuki will likely be injured, triggering Sarada’s Mangekyo Sharingan automatically. The awakening of this eye was driven by Sarada’s emotional distress when everyone was hunting Boruto. This occurred in a moment of danger to her comrade, and a similar situation could arise with Mitsuki.
The battle with Ryu and Matsuri may reveal Sarada’s new abilities, such as her base eye techniques, Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi, followed by the initial form of Susanoo. According to the third databook, a Mangekyo Sharingan user must awaken Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi to master Susanoo. However, this applies only to Itachi. The fourth databook states that simply possessing the Mangekyo Sharingan in both eyes is enough to unlock Susanoo.
The activation and use of the Mangekyo Sharingan will be a sign that she’s ready to take responsibility for her eyes. Every Mangekyo Sharingan user begins to lose their sight over time. There’s also a chance she could defeat Ryu using a technique called Purple Lightning. Boruto used this technique to counter Shinki’s most powerful Iron Sand attack.
This would show Sarada not only as a protector but also as a future leader who must protect her friends and village from the most potent threats. Alongside Mitsuki, she’ll act as a cohesive unit, though their combined strength may not be enough to neutralize the threat completely. I think more Shinobi from the Sand Village will come to their aid.
Konohamaru has also demonstrated a new technique called Wind Style Rasen Barricade. This technique closely resembles the Rasengan Uzuhiko in design and showcases how much Konohamaru has grown, as it’s his invention. Using this technique, Konohamaru can counter enemy attacks, expanding Rasengan’s area with wind chakra to create a strong wind barrier.
This technique proved decisive enough to block Chidori, used by a Shinju named Hidari, confirming that Konohamaru’s defensive abilities can rival Shinju’s. I hope Konohamaru has also developed a new form of offensive Rasengan, which we’ll see in Chapter 17.
The battles with Matsuri and Ryu will allow himallow him to prove his strength externally and internally. He can no longer rely solely on his teammates or luck. He must learn to depend on himself, his strength, and his abilities to become a strong leader.
Let’s continue our analysis of the upcoming events and move on to Konohamaru. When Konohamaru faces a real threat, he’ll realize it’s not enough to follow the team or rely on friends’ help. To become Hokage, he must grow strong both morally and physically. He must protect everyone, not just himself.
Now is the perfect time to introduce another strong Sarutobi to the story. Let’s not forget that he’s a student of none other than Naruto Uzumaki. Konohamaru will have to endure great trials, and only by showing his true resilience can he prove that he’s ready to become a true leader. His path to becoming Hokage will be long and arduous, but perhaps he will be the one to shape the future of his village and the entire shinobi world.
He demonstrated his high taijutsu skills when he became an adult. As a genin, Naruto taught Konohamaru how to use the Rasengan. Initially, this technique required a shadow clone to perform, but Konohamaru learned to use it the traditional way, on his own, with one hand.
Konohamaru learned to perform the Odama Rasengan in the anime without external instruction beforehand. Judging by his Rasengan, Konohamaru has perfect chakra control. Based on this principle, it is also evident that he possesses a large chakra reserve, just like all members of the Sarutobi clan.
Kakashi previously noted in the manga that creating an Odama Rasengan requires a large chakra reserve. By the time of the Fourth Great Ninja War, Konohamaru had already mastered nature transformations, using both Fire and Wind styles.
Therefore, in Chapter 17 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, we will see more than one interesting technique performed by Konohamaru and witness the rise of a new, powerful Sarutobi in the history of the world of Shinobi.
The manga enters a new phase, where threats grow and challenges become tougher. Sarada and Mitsuki demonstrate their strength but realize their insufficient abilities to overcome the danger fully. Meanwhile, Konohamaru, faced with real hardships, begins to understand the need to grow morally and physically stronger. These events lay the groundwork for future changes in the shinobi world and set a new tone for the story, where personal growth, teamwork, and self-overcoming are central elements.
