The Return of Sasuke Uchiha in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex & Boruto’s Secret Shinju Ally

Will Sasuke Uchiha Return in Boruto Manga? New Theory Explained

Chapter 15 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex revealed something intriguing: the possible return of Sasuke Uchiha. While this wasn’t the chapter’s main focus, it was subtly hinted at as early as Chapter 13.

Let’s go back to that moment. Ryu, the Shinki Shinju, extracted Code from one of his Claw Marks embedded in the cube. In the following panel, he looked mysterious—something seemingly insignificant, as Ryu often has a mysterious appearance. But there’s a reason why this is significant. To understand, let’s revisit Chapter 13, where Jura resurrected him using the Thorn Soul Bulb.

Upon his resurrection, Jura asked if there were any problems, to which he replied, “Who knows? I can’t tell.” Jura then said, “I see. Seems you know you are Hit; your identity appears strong and intact.” At first, this appeared to confirm Hidari’s intact consciousness, but Chapter 15 adds layers to this interaction. Jura initially gave the newly created Shinki Shinju a name to establish its identity, which made sense given that it was a new entity. However, it raises questions about Hidari: Why would Jura need to confirm that the revived Hidari is the same as before, especially since he used the Thorn Soul Bulb to create him?

This leads to three potential explanations:

  1. Reviving a Shinju using a Thorn Soul Bulb results in the resurgence of the specific consciousness that previously inhabited it.
  2. A new personality with fresh memories might be created.
  3. The body could be hijacked by the person whose essence was originally used to create the Shinju.

Option two is less likely since Hidari confirmed he is the same as before. Therefore, either option one holds, or Hidari might not be entirely truthful, supporting option three.

Sasuke’s return may lead to Hidari awakening his Sharingan, and there’s a reason for this. These Shinju were created using Ten Tails power, Isshiki’s essence in Code’s Karma, and the ninja’s chakra that was transformed into a tree. Sasuke’s chakra was specifically used to create Hidari, explaining why they look similar and why Hidari can use the Chidori. If Sasuke were to return, his essence could influence Hidari’s consciousness and emotions—an essential factor for the Uchiha clan, whose powers are tied to their emotions. Hidari’s lack of a Sharingan could be due to his incomplete understanding of emotions, which would limit his abilities as a Uchiha.

The possibility of Hidari awakening his Sharingan was subtly hinted at in Chapter 11 around page 26. After Sarada countered him using her Chidori, he remarked, “Those eyes of yours… Jura told me about them. They’re Sharingan, aren’t they?” Under other circumstances, this might seem like a simple observation. He said they were using the same jutsu and concluded, “I was curious why Chidori was so hard to control, but it seems like eyes like Sarada’s are needed to master it.” This suggests that Hidari may need to develop a Sharingan to reach his full potential in the story.

To use Chidori effectively, Hidari must either steal Sarada’s Sharingan, take one from Sasuke’s body, or awaken one of his own. The first two options are highly unlikely, especially if Sasuke has returned in some form. Therefore, the most probable outcome is that he will awaken a Sharingan alone.

There’s a reason why Chidori is typically used in conjunction with the Sharingan. The Chidori greatly enhances speed, surpassing what the eyes can naturally perceive, leaving the user vulnerable to counterattacks. This is why Minato instructed Kakashi not to use it and why it was only resurrected after Obito gave Kakashi his Sharingan. The Sharingan enabled Kakashi to perceive his surroundings even at such speeds, eliminating his counterattack vulnerability. Hidari, in this case, wasn’t aware of this limitation. He charged in and failed to anticipate Sarada’s ability to exploit that weakness by using her Sharingan to dodge and counter his attack.

Additionally, the Rinnegan does not have the same perceptive ability as the Sharingan. This explains why Sasuke continues to rely on his Sharingan when using Chidori or locating objects, such as tracking a shuriken thrown by Jigen. It’s important to note that only certain people can exploit this “loophole.” Not everyone can take advantage of Chidori’s vulnerability simply because of their power level; Sarada Uchiha was strong enough to do so against Hidari.

The idea of Hidari awakening his own Sharingan seems impossible to some, primarily because the Sharingan is a Kekkei Genkai, a genetic anomaly allowing unique techniques. Most Kekkei Genkai are inherited through clan lineage, and individuals typically inherit only one of these abilities. Kekkei Genkai falls into three main categories: Advanced Nature Transformation, Corporeal, and Visual, such as the Sharingan and Byakugan. These abilities are tied to DNA, making it seemingly impossible for a Shinju to awaken them, as they were created using the chakra of the devoured person rather than their physical bodies.

However, the concept of a Shinju wielding a Kekkei Genkai could be possible based on a clue in Chapter 15. This chapter reveals that Ryu, a Shinki Shinju, can still use Shinki’s Iron Sand, which requires the Kekkei Genkai, known as Magnet Release. Advanced Nature Transformation is a type of Kekkei Genkai, and mastering it requires ninjas to combine two different chakra natures simultaneously, creating a new one. Although skilled ninjas can transform their chakra nature, only those with genetic capabilities inherent to Kekkei Genkai can perform double nature transformations.

Kekkei Genkai has varied origins: some result from genetic mutations or two individuals with different elemental affinities, while others trace back to the bloodline of the Sage of Six Paths. Some are passed down through tailed beasts to their Jinchuriki, such as Naruto’s Boil Release or Roshi’s Lava Release. This implies that Shinju can inherit Kekkei Genkai by possessing a portion of a specific individual’s chakra, which suggests that it could also be possible for Hidari.

This might initially seem contradictory, but we have seen a similar scenario. Sasuke awakened the Rinnegan after receiving chakra from Hagoromo, showing that it’s possible to awaken a Kekkei Genkai through chakra, depending on the person bestowing it. Additionally, Sasuke received Hashirama’s cells from Kabuto moments before awakening the Rinnegan, a significant fact since the combination of Asura and Indra’s chakra leads to the Rinnegan, as Hagoromo explained. Therefore, it’s likely that Hagoromo didn’t grant Sasuke a new Kekkei Genkai outright but sped up the process through chakra.

DNA may be transmitted along with the data sent to the main body responsible for creating the Thorn Soul Bulbs, which then bloom into the Shinju. We’re not certain what’s occurring inside that tree or how this information is relayed. However, the Claw Marks embedded in the Claw Grimes could transmit DNA as well, making it feasible for Hidari—or Sasuke, through Hidari’s body—to awaken a Sharingan. This would eliminate any plot inconsistencies.

I’m not suggesting that Hidari’s Rinnegan would morph into a normal Sharingan. Instead, he may awaken a Tomoe Rinnegan, similar to Sasuke’s. This Rinnegan would retain the powers and abilities of the Sharingan, which would improve Hidari’s control over the Chidori.

If Sasuke does not take control of Hidari’s body, there’s still the possibility that Hidari himself could deepen his understanding of human emotions and, in turn, awaken Sasuke’s Tomoe Rinnegan. This Rinnegan could potentially grant him access to Sasuke’s teleportation ability, Amaterasu, and flame control—all abilities etched into Sasuke’s essence, which Hidari currently has access to.

Some fans have questioned whether these Shinju can inherit multiple abilities. Jura has only used the Bijuu Bomb, Matsuri has only used Earth Release, and the Bug Shinju uses the Ten Tails’ ability to morph its body rather than any unique jutsu. However, Hidari has used the Chidori and performed the Fireball Jutsu to kill Ninja 617 back in Chapter 11, another one of Sasuke’s jutsu. This demonstrates that Shinju can manifest multiple abilities, and there seems to be no limit to what they can inherit.

Sasuke’s potential return in the form of Hidari and the awakening of his Tomoe Rinnegan could also bring back his Tailed Beast Susanoo form, one of the most impressive in the Naruto series, both in design and combat capabilities. With its lightning-based staff, this form can summon massive bolts of lightning from the sky and use Sasuke’s ultimate technique, Indra’s Arrow. To see this form again—especially with Sasuke as a Tailed Beast—would be incredible.

While this is an exciting prospect regarding powers, there’s also a significant narrative element involving Sasuke’s daughter, Sarada, and his student, Boruto. If Sasuke, now existing as a Shinju, interacts with them, the dynamic would be fascinating to explore.

This raises an interesting question: Should Sasuke return to Hidari’s body, or should Hidari develop his feelings and switch to the good side? There’s often a character in the villain group in anime who eventually changes sides, and so far, Hidari seems the most likely candidate. Unlike Jura, Matsuri, the Bug Shinju, and the recently created Shinki Shinju—all certain of their identities—Hidari appears genuinely interested in discovering who he truly is. This is likely an intentional move by the writer, hinting at something more for Hidari.

Perhaps the story could lead to Hidari developing his identity and sacrificing himself to protect Sarada and Boruto, bringing Sasuke back in a powerful way. Sasuke Uchiha’s return in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex seems more plausible than ever, especially with the revelations from Chapter 15. The hints surrounding Hidari’s identity, the mechanics of Shinju creation, and the connection between Sasuke’s essence and Hidari’s abilities all point toward a deeper mystery. If Hidari were to awaken a Sharingan—or even Sasuke’s Tomoe Rinnegan—it could signal Sasuke’s influence over his body or an eventual resurgence. Whether Sasuke reclaims control or Hidari finds his own path, this storyline could redefine the role of the Uchiha in Boruto’s world.
