So we have Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 10, and in this chapter, we have the battle between Sarada and Hidari, as well as Himawari activating the Nine-Tails chakra to fight Jura. Boruto leaves the village temporarily after Kawaki activates his Karma due to the resonance between them. This forces Boruto to remain in the shadows for this chapter and most likely the next couple of chapters as he waits for his Karma seal to disappear. This was another action-packed chapter in Two Blue Vortex that provided a lane for the other New Gen characters, such as Sarada and Himawari, who are set up to have massive roles in the time skip.
At the end of Chapter 9, we left off with Himawari meeting Kurama for the first time, with Team 10 escaping Konoha from Jura and Hidari. Shikamaru informs Konohamaru and others to stop the Ten-Tails that have invaded the village. He also instructs Kawaki to stop pursuing Boruto and instead help Team 10 and Himawari. Kawaki and Delta then leave the village. Shikamaru contacts Boruto about what happened to him, and we see Boruto still recovering from the Karma forming on his body. As we saw in the last chapter, when Boruto activated his Karma due to resonate with Kawaki, we learned that he could not control his Karma and was forced to flee from the battlefield. Boruto tells Shikamaru that he needs a little break and that his Karma appearing is a minor issue, meaning that Boruto will likely be out of the story for the next couple of chapters as he waits for his Karma to go away.
Jura then informs Hidari that he will be going after Himawari. Konohamaru and more Konoha Ninja confront Hidari. Konohamaru realizes that one of the two trespassers is Sasuke, as he contacts the Sensory Unit to confirm the chakra of Hidari. The Sensory Unit confirms that Hidari is indeed Sasuke, based on the chakra match. Hidari asks Konohamaru what business they have with him, but they are interrupted by Sarada and Sumire. Hidari immediately recognizes Sarada as his target, aiming to kill her. He immediately tries to go for the kill by teleporting behind Sarada using claw marks. Hidari goes for Chidori, but Sarada reacts to the attack with her Sharingan, dodges, and counters with her own Chidori, striking Hidari’s side and making him fall to the ground. She immediately recognizes that Hidari is using Chidori, a technique only she and Sasuke can use. This is the first time both characters meet in person since Hidari’s introduction, and it sets up an emotional battle between father and daughter, giving Sarada her first solo battle in the manga. This is the perfect opportunity for her to display her new post-time-skip power, having unlocked her Mangekyou Sharingan.
Moving on in this chapter, Kurama introduces himself to Himawari, explaining that he and Himawari are now the same body and soul. Himawari is confused as to how this happened and Kurama informs her that his life force ran out when he was inside Naruto’s body. As we know, Naruto activated Baryon Mode against Isshiki, which forced Kurama to burn his life force in order to help Naruto defeat Isshiki. As a result, Kurama passed away, but death for Bijū is not eternal. Eventually, the chakra reforms and brings them back to life years later. Kurama explains that he had no idea he would be reborn inside Himawari, speculating that this may have occurred because the Nine-Tails chakra was inherited when Himawari was born, or it could be due to her destiny, influenced by the Uzumaki and Hyuga genetics passed down from Naruto and Hinata. Kurama informs Himawari that she must accept the reality that she is now the new Nine Tails Jinchuriki. Himawari immediately accepts this role by greeting Kurama impressing him.
Back in reality, Jura has caught up to Team 10, and Himawari immediately tries to gather the Nine-Tails chakra to protect everyone. Having seen Naruto fight using the Nine Tails, she believes that she can now draw on its power just as her father did. However, this doesn’t work as she expected. Jura sends Team 10 flying into the dirt, breaking Inojin’s Beast Mimic Jutsu. Himawari continues to ask Kurama for power, but he tells her that she must gather the Nine-Tails chakra herself, as he cannot simply give it to her. Kurama even tells her that her affinity with the Nine-Tails is higher than any of her predecessors, including Naruto. This foreshadows that Himawari’s potential to use the Nine-Tails could be incredible, possibly even surpassing Naruto’s. If Naruto could achieve Baryon Mode, Himawari could unlock her own Chakra Mode, or something even more powerful. However, to do this, she must believe in herself and shed any preconceived notions, or she will die against future opponents like Jura.
Realizing that all hope is lost, Himawari tries to attack Jura but is quickly stopped as Jura breaks her leg. She realizes that she can’t save her friends, but Team 10 continues to press on. Inojin tries to follow up as Himawari starts to turn into a tree for Jura to devour. Inojin tries to stop Jura, but Jura decides it’s enough and destroys Inojin, turning him into a donut with a single strike. This leaves Inojin in a critical condition, and it appears as though he may die. Jura remarks on aesthetics, which he learned from something he read, adding a strange humor to the scene. However, this triggers Himawari to tap into the Nine Tails chakra finally. She breaks out of the tree’s captivity, catching everyone off guard. Her hair flares out like the Nine-Tails, and she tells Jura to stop hurting Inojin. Kurama is impressed by Himawari, as she is able to gather the Nine-Tails chakra out of rage. He tells her it’s time to go crazy on Jura for hurting Inojin, and this is where the chapter ends.
Right now, when it comes to Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, this is another banger chapter from Kishimoto! I absolutely love the direction of the story right now. Boruto has been put on the side since he is recovering from his Karma seal appearing, which allows other characters to shine finally. We initially saw this with Team 10 when they were trying to battle Jura and Hidari as they were escaping from the village. We saw their teamwork, trying to help out Himawari. However, now that they are stuck in a corner against a villain who is probably the strongest villain we’ve seen thus far, they don’t have much chance of defeating him.
However, with Himawari activating her Nine Tails and Kurama saying that her affinity is higher than any of the predecessors when it comes to being the Nine Tails Jinchuriki, this definitely sets Himawariup to become an absolute monster and a powerhouse for the rest of this series. I’m really glad because I have to admit, I was proven wrong about Himawari’s character. Initially, when I saw Himawari in the anime, we saw her potential with the Byakugan, but I really didn’t think it would pan out to anything. Let’s be real—having just a regular base, Byakugan wasn’t going to be enough to fight amongst the powerhouses like the Ōtsutsuki and the Ten-Tails, especially with characters like Boruto and Kawaki. Even Naruto and Sasuke, at their absolute peak, weren’t enough to stop the top-tier villains in this series.
That being said, I never expected Himawari to get that powerful so quickly. However, I’m glad to be proven wrong because Himawari’s character so far—I love her! I love that she is getting this focus in the time skip because it’s definitely needed. I’m so happy that Kishimoto is really taking this direction by prioritizing the new gen for once, right? In Boruto Part 1, it was really a combination of Naruto, Boruto, Sasuke, and Kawaki, while everyone else, like Sarada and Mitsuki, only got a little focus. Now, we’re getting a lot more information and focus on the new generation.
Let’s be real; a lot of these old-gen characters are done, right? Naruto is not here anymore; Sasuke is not here anymore. However, the dynamic and teachings of what Naruto and Sasuke passed on to Boruto, Sarada, the rest of the Konoha Ninja, and even Himawari are being carried forward. You see these principles being brought to them, like protecting the village. For example, Team 10 continuously tries to stop Hidari and Jura. Even though they are no match in terms of power, they press on to protect the village. This is the Will of Fire, and it’s what makes them Konoha Ninja. Kishimoto is going in this direction because we need it.
When it comes to the upcoming fight between Himawari and Jura, I’m going to be real—I don’t think she’s going to win. I don’t think anyone expects her to. However, I do think we’re going to see more of Himawari’s future as the Nine Tails Jinchuriki. Here’s the thing: now that Himawari and Kurama is basically friends, let’s be real—Kurama obviously had that relationship with Naruto, and now that Naruto has passed, Kurama understands that he has to be the good Nine Tails instead of the bad Nine Tails he was back in the day in original Naruto. He can’t be that evil being anymore but must instead guide Himawari in the right direction to use this power.
Right now, Kurama is excited because Himawari is in a rage, but their relationship will evolve. Let’s be real—Kurama has been through a lot as a character. Now that he’s seen everything from Delta to the day he couldn’t be with Naruto anymore, that legacy will be passed down to Himawari, and I’m glad she’s following it through. I also think the explanation for Kurama’s return makes perfect sense because we already know that Tailed Beasts cakra won’t permanently die. We’ve seen this in Naruto when some Tailed Beasts were killed, but their chakra reformed years later.
I’m glad that Himawari is now the Nine Tails Jinchuriki. We also know that Kawaki is heading her way, so Himawari will eventually have a backup from Kawaki and Delta, though that will not be enough at all. We’ve already seen Jura take out Kawaki, but this is another great chapter from Kishimoto. I also want to shout out Ikemoto—I really loved his paneling during the transformation when Himawari activated the Nine Tails. The zoomed-out perspective shots were awesome, and the angle of it—it felt like a bit of Kishimoto’s touch.
This is another great chapter from Kishimoto and Ikemoto—another banger! Let me know what you think about it in the comments section below. How would you rate this Boruto chapter?
