Read: Boruto Two Blue Vortex Chapter 19 Review

Chapter 19 of Boruto Two Blue Vortex has just been released. Everything is getting worse, and Boruto is about to step into battle. I think this fight in the Land of Wind will end in a grand way, especially since someone is about to intervene—more precisely, Kawaki, with his limits removed. That’s why Kashin Koji remains so calm while Konohamaru is about to be killed, and the others are in the same position with Ryu.

All these hints lead us to a single conclusion: the battle of the two brothers against these threats. This finally reveals the true reason behind Kashin Koji’s plan. Although most of the action takes place in the Land of Wind, I have come up with multiple ideas about what could happen in the future Boruto manga, as well as the important discussions Jura has with Hidari and Bug’s clone.

All of this and much more in this review, where I break down and explain everything that happens in Boruto manga chapter 19.

On this month’s cover is Moegi, and on the first page, we get a flashback where Shinki and Araya are talking. The text on the side reads:

“A long time ago, in the days of Araya and Shinki… the Ultimate Sword technique! The sword that seals magnetic particles!”

Right from the start, we learn about the special sword that Araya uses multiple times in this Boruto manga chapter to protect everyone. However, Ryu is far superior, and this sword seems to be their only chance of survival. Interestingly, it appears that the sword can seal Shinki’s magnetic sand as well.

In this flashback, Shinki gives the sword to Araya, telling him that he has infused his chakra into it. He explains:

“If you combine it with your wind release techniques, you should be able to manipulate the sand. Technically, it should work the same way it does for me.”

Even back then, Shinki—despite not knowing that such a situation would occur—created this sword for Araya to help him and prepare for any danger. This proves just how intelligent Shinki is, and thanks to him, they have managed to survive in the Land of Wind.

Then, Araya asks Shinki if he’s sure about what he did, especially since now he’ll stand no chance against him in a sparring match. Shinki responds:

“Everything is for the sake of my father. Protect him. I want to increase my team’s power.”

“You really can’t say two sentences without mentioning your father,” says Araya, to which Shinki replies, “And is there something wrong with that?”

We can see that Shinki is very similar, in a way, to Kawaki. He wants the best for his adoptive father, just like Kawaki does for Naruto. This is also why, in my opinion, Kawaki will be the one to intervene and kill Ryu—but we’ll discuss that once we get to that part.

Before the flashback ends, Araya tells Shinki that he should at least pay more attention to Yodo, to which Shinki replies:

“You should be the one doing that, especially since every time you open your mouth, you talk about her.”

From this, we can draw another conclusion: Araya has feelings for Yodo. However, from her side, it doesn’t seem to be the same. In fact, Yodo might actually have feelings for Shinki, considering how desperate she was to free him in the last few chapters of the Boruto manga.

So, besides the Sarada-Sumire-Boruto dynamic, it looks like we have another love triangle forming.

Back in the present, the fight continues, with Araya managing to free Mitsuki from Ryu’s control. Now that everyone is free, Araya comes up with a strategy—Sarada and Mitsuki will attack Ryu, while Araya will handle the sand.

“You sure have a lot of confidence in yourselves. You are really underestimating me, aren’t you?” says Ryu, just before he unleashes a massive amount of sand.

Araya does everything he can to keep it away. Meanwhile, Sarada uses a Fire Release attack, but unsurprisingly, it has no effect. However, at this point, it’s getting repetitive. How many times have we seen her do the same thing?

For someone who is the last remaining Uchiha and technically one of the most talented shinobi, using just Fire Jutsu in such a critical situation after the time skip is really bad for her character development. However, Kishimoto has a good plan for her—I’m sure of it. Just because we know how much he loves writing female characters, it’s hard to believe he’ll leave her like this.

Thanks to the distraction, Mitsuki summons snakes behind Ryu, trying to capture him. We then see him transforming into his perfect Snake Sage Mode and launching a direct attack on Ryu.

At that moment, Ryu’s body disappears, revealing that he can completely transform his body into sand. Mitsuki notices Ryu’s ability and is shocked that he can do even that.

Araya warns them that Ryu will likely try to control them again. Then Yodo speaks up, saying that she can hear the sand shifting in two directions. Araya immediately attacks—it seems like he’s trying to completely seal Ryu. The good news is that his attack hits, leaving Ryu in shock that someone can actually seal his sand.

In the very next moment, Sarada jumps in with her Sharingan activated and lands a direct Chidori on him. But the bad news? Ryu disappears again, and Sarada’s attack does absolutely nothing.

The scene changes to Konohamaru and Matsuri. We see Matsuri visibly frustrated, saying:

“I just want to call you Konohamaru-chan! What’s wrong with that?”

To which Konohamaru replies, “I’ve told you over and over again, I don’t like it.”

Matsuri, still upset, snaps back, “But you let Moegi call you that! That’s not fair at all!”

It’s clear that Matsuri is angry that Konohamaru hasn’t accepted her advances—or, more precisely, that he won’t let her call him Konohamaru-chan.

As I mentioned in a previous blog The chan term is often used for loved ones, which explains why Matsuri is so upset about it. As Konohamaru and Matsuri argue, Eida watches them using her Senrigan. In a way, this argument teaches her something about her own relationship with Kawaki. We start to see how everything is beginning to connect in the minds of our characters, and this might finally be the moment Araya breaks free from her obsession with Kawaki.

At that moment, Kashin Koji asks Eida for an update on the situation. Eida informs him that Konohamaru is in serious danger. Koji then asks about the other characters. Boruto wants to intervene. Boruto then asks Eida, Can they really defeat Ryu? to which she responds that, so far, they are holding their ground, but it’s unclear how things will end. It’s a very difficult situation.

Boruto becomes more and more eager to step in, but Kashin Koji notices this and stops him. I understand. I know you want to go there, but now is not the right time, he tells Boruto. Honestly, Kashin Koji is helping everyone immensely here. If he weren’t around, things would spiral out of control way too easily.

Even though both battlefields are in danger, one thing is clear—Koji is waiting for something to happen. Or rather, he’s waiting for someone to step in, and that someone is Kawaki. That’s why we don’t see him in this chapter. Amado has already removed his limits, and he’s heading toward the battlefield to reveal his true power.

As I mentioned earlier in this Boruto manga review blog, Kawaki will help them against both Ryu and Matsuri. If Konohamaru keeps Matsuri distracted, Kawaki will have enough time to take down Ryu. In the next chapter of the Boruto manga, we’ll finally learn Kashin Koji’s true motives. The fact that he can see the future is a massive advantage, and with his guidance, the team might emerge victorious, leaving Jura completely alone.

Speaking of Jura, in the very next scene, we see him alongside Hidari and Bug’s clone. Apparently, Hidari, Jura, and Bug’s clone are having a conversation about love and life. Jura says something really important:

“I believe life should be lived moving forward toward one goal—that’s evolution driven by instinct. However, humans, because of their social nature, are trapped by something called reason. This clouds their instinct to evolve. It’s a disadvantage they inherit from their intelligence. Unlike us, who remain faithful to our instincts, humans carry this fatal flaw.”

This is a crucial insight from Jura. He’s reflecting on the human condition, realizing that people have the capacity to hold back instead of walking over others to achieve their goals. He notes that humans are bound by emotions, which prevent them from taking ruthless actions to reach their objectives.

Then Mamushi responds, saying that this is indeed a pathetic trait, but it has nothing to do with them. However, I’d actually argue against Mamushi’s point because Jura himself has already admitted that they possess intelligence, and with intelligence comes reason—just like he mentioned earlier. Even if they have great power and different chakra, their intelligence makes them just as weak as humans.

Jura then contradicts Mamushi, making an even deeper statement:

“There exists a concept that carries the risk of causing immense problems even for us divine beings. This concept is love.”

We’ve already discussed the idea of love and how the Shinju, having gained consciousness, are now open to the full range of human emotions. We see this most clearly in Matsuri right now. Jura is fully aware of the risk that was born the moment they became truly self-aware.

Love was the driving force in Naruto Shippuden, and it seems like it’s becoming just as important in the present story. Let’s not forget that Sarada awakened her Mangekyou Sharingan because of love. So what kind of signs is Kishimoto giving us here? Because once you introduce all human emotions into the Shinju, things can take a completely unpredictable turn.

Right now, Jura might even accelerate the planet’s destruction just to avoid reaching a point where his instincts are overpowered by emotions.

The scene then changes back to Matsuri and Konohamaru. Matsuri, clearly angry, tells Konohamaru:

“Because of you, my mind is filled only with thoughts of you! I can’t stay mentally stable! Why do I have to feel this way? It’s so painful and frustrating!”

For the first time, Matsuri is experiencing the pain of unrequited love. Matsuri reaches a chilling conclusion—the best way to end her suffering is to devour Konohamaru. That way, she won’t have to endure the pain anymore.

At the same time, Jura continues his monologue. Even though the members of Team Ino-Shika-Cho are strong shinobi, they chose to prioritize their team’s safety over their own lives. Despite fully understanding the risk, he finds it surprising that, even though they knew how foolish their decision was, they still went through with it.

It’s very interesting to see Jura analyzing human concepts so deeply. This opens the door to countless future possibilities. Then, he makes a chilling statement:

“Among them, Inojin lost his self-control. As a result, he lost his life. In other words, all of these naive actions come from love. Because of this concept, their thinking becomes clouded.”

Hidari then asks, “But really, what is love? Is it some kind of disease?”

Jura responds, “This concept is often mentioned in a lot of writings, but it remains a mystery. It’s difficult to understand it. In any case, it is not something that can be ignored.”

Jura is now fully aware that love might become a threat to their plans. Then, he turns to Hidari and says:

“You should hear this as well. Our instincts are warning us—this dangerous concept called love must be understood and overcome.”

Now we finally understand Jura’s real goal. He wants to surpass love before he even has the chance to feel it himself. But in my opinion, this would be impossible. Maybe he can resist it, but the others won’t, and in the end, he’ll still be alone.

Kishimoto is clearly setting up the direction of the story with this concept of love in mind. The Boruto manga online series will continue to progress, and it’s likely that love will become a key element in how the Shinju’s fate unfolds.

The scene changes back to the battle in the Land of Wind, where Yodo is guiding Araya, trying to tell him where to strike. Suddenly, Ryu reappears, but this time, he summons an army of monsters using his teleportation marks. Sarada and Mitsuki fight to destroy them, but there are far too many.

At one point, one of the monsters bites Yodo. Araya rushes to cut it down, but his sword is stuck—the blade gets lodged inside the creature’s body. Ryu seizes the opportunity, using his teleportation technique to send the monster away, taking Araya’s sword with it.

With Araya now weaponless, their chances of victory are almost 0%.

On the last page, Matsuri is fully prepared to consume Konohamaru.

“Now is the time for you to become one.”

She’s referring to turning him into a Shinju, just like them.

We’ve now reached a critical turning point in the story. The battle against Ryu is becoming more desperate, with Araya losing his key weapon and the group struggling against overwhelming odds. Meanwhile, Jura’s deep philosophical reflections on love and instinct highlight the clash between humanity and divine beings.

Beyond all of this, what impact will Jura’s ideas on love and instinct have on the Shinju’s future and the entire ninja world? Boruto Two Blue Vortex Chapter 19 delivers intense action and unexpected twists, making it a must-read for fans.
